Broken Social Scene biography

Broken Social Scene is a Canadian indie rock band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The band was formed in 2006 by Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning, who are both members of other bands, and Jason Collett, who is a member of the band Stars. The band's sound is sometimes called baroque pop due to its use of instruments such as guitars, horns, woodwinds, and violins, unusual song structures, and experimental production style from David Newfeld, who produced the band's second and third albums, as well as other albums by other Canadian artists such as Metric, Do Make Say Think, KC Accidental, Emily Haines, and Amy Millan.Stuart Berman's This Book Is Broken (2009) covers the band from its inception to its critical acclaim.
